914/6 Conversion

CPR Classic is delighted to offer this beautifully-executed 1972 Porsche 914-6 Conversion finished in Black over a Black leather interior.

914 Limited spared no expense when building this 914-6 conversion; only the finest parts went toward this build. The heart of this 914-6 is its 2.4 'S' spec engine assembled with Weber carburetors and sparked by an Electromotive ignition system. The car makes 178 wheel horsepower at 6500 RPM in dynamometer testing. 914 Limited fitted a subtle front-mount oil cooler to keep the engine comfortable on enthusiastic drives. The headers are from B&B and exit into a sport muffler.

The suspension and brakes on this 914-6 conversion are well-executed to make short work of fun roads. The front end has 911SC hubs, Bilstein damper inserts, 944 Turbo multi-piston front brakes, a welded strut brace, and a fully adjustable front sway bar. This 914-6's rear suspension benefits from Bilstein coilovers, a bolt-on strut brace, genuine 914-6 rear brake calipers, and a set of cross-drilled 911SC rotors. Each corner wears 7x15 Fuchs. The rebuilt factory gearbox features a Weltmeister short shifter.

Inside, this 914-6 conversion is appointed very nicely with a full leather black interior. 911 gauges include a 2.4 'S' tachometer, 180mph speedometer, and numeral combination gauge. The steering wheel is a smaller-diameter Momo Competition unit. A Halmeter air-fuel ratio gauge integrates neatly into the center console, with additional information provided by gauges to the steering column's left and right. A Blaupunkt CD head unit powered by a Blaupunkt amplifier drives speakers in the footwells and center console.

The exterior presentation of this 914-6 is excellent. The paint shows well and received a full correction upon arrival. 914 Limited added a NACA duct in the passenger rocker panel leading directly to the engine's air intake and louvered the engine grille for additional cooling. All exterior body panels fit very well. All brightwork is very presentable. Front turn signal lenses and rear tail light lenses are European-specification, and the front running lights are deleted for a cleaner aesthetic.

The 914 is one of Porsche's best-balanced sports cars. These cars have go-kart-like handling and are incredibly rewarding to drive quickly. 914-6s with powerful 911 powertrains like this will leave most equivalent 911s behind in the corners and are a fraction of the cost. This 914-6 conversion offers a more engaging and spirited drive than a stock 914-6 at a more affordable price. If you are looking for a Porsche to use on canyon drives and maybe the occasional day at the track, this is a great example to consider.
